Bookfest is coming up at UMass Amherst on April 30. Registration is open now.
Coordinating with MassCUE to determine site for Better Together, which will be held in August.
The Executive Board is now looking at April 7-8 and April 30-May, 2017 1 as potential new date for the MSLA Conference since the original dates conflicted with religious holidays.
Judi Paradis and Kendall Boninti met with Ross Todd from Rutgers University’s Center for International Scholarship in School Libraries (CISSL). Rutgers is interested in the survey study and the data it will yield and has offered to help with the data analysis and funding. Carol Gordon is coordinating the sponsorship. Please remember to respond when when your institution receives the survey.

MSLA Executive Board members have met with representatives from the New England School Library Association (NESLA) to discuss possible future changes for the secondary school NEASC evaluation. As a result, there is a regional task force forming among New England state school library associations to prepare in case if there is a future change. In 2003, NESLA put out a position paper that articulated the role of school librarian. Carol G. was the author of that paper and she has offered to revise that paper.
Carol Kelly, Lisa Estabrook, Donna Guerin and Elaine Mokrzycki have been working on a document that clarifies certification paths in Massachusetts.
Jennifer Dimmick and Reba Tierney are the new Affiliate Assembly Representatives for MSLA.
Mary Millette is the new Vocational Tech Library Liaison to the MSLA Executive Board.
There will be a new column by Valerie Diggs in the Forum.
