Executive Summary
The MSLA Executive Board met on December 16, 2015 to discuss upcoming events and select the dates and location of the MSLA 2017 Conference.

There are several professional learning opportunities in the works. This Friday, MSLA is kicking off ALA Midwinter with Digital Learning Day at the WGBH Studios. Mark your calendars for Spring Bookfest on April 30 and Better Together (with MassCUE) in August.

Next year’s conference will be held at the Cape Cod Resort & Conference Center in Hyannis April 9-10 (2017). Although the board considered two other locations, the Hyannis location offered the best overall value in price, parking, and accommodations.

There is positive news about the library survey. DESE will be rewriting the survey created by Dr. Carol Gordon and Dr. Robin Cicchetti, and Mitchell Chester, Commissioner of Elementary and Secondary Education, will be sending the survey out to administrators on his DESE letterhead.

The Legislative Committee is looking for members to submit ideas for displays at the Statehouse on Library Legislative Day on March 8. If your idea is selected, you will be asked to create a tabletop display highlighting a special project, space, or program in your library. This display should highlight the diversity of the role of librarians in schools, and be highly visual and engaging. Submit your proposals through this link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LegDay2016. Deadline is January 14.
