Vocational Technical  School Resources
​Although each vocational technical school may vary by the programs offered, you will find that as a group of professionals in Information Studies we strive for similar goals. 
As Library Media Specialists in vocational technical schools we are charged in creating, curating and supporting the various career and technical educational programs of our institutions. In addition to supporting our colleagues in the academic classes in our schools, we strive to develop rich multimedia resources to engage and foster the students’ commitment to their vocational, academic and other pursuits they have.

As Library Media Specialists in vocational technical schools we are charged with various roles:

As teachers we help guide both staff and students to become independent users of credible information and understand how to have digital literacy. Most of all we teach how to utilize the numerous tools and how to take advantage of the vast amount of information that can help students have the knowledge they need, taking into account differentiated learning, in our ever-changing world.

As instructional partners we work collaboratively with both academic and shop (vocational and technical programs) educators to develop lessons and learning opportunities that utilize a wide range of media resources available to our learning community. We make sure that we reach the learning needs of all our students.

As informational specialists it is up to us to get the word out to administration, support staff and students about resources, best practices and other pertinent news that keeps the school utilizing relevant resources.

As program administrators we work to develop a hub where all people in our community can engage face to face and online to exchange ideas and design new systems/products. The LMC aims to be a learning common for all.

As leaders we challenge students, staff, support specialists and administrators to look at the broad world around them and see how they fit in it in various ways. How can they make an impact and find like-minded people to carry forward their own vision and goals?
