Position Summary:

The Carroll School seeks a full-time full-year Librarian and Educational Technology Specialist with a growth mindset and a true passion for lifelong learning. This individual must be motivated by helping students to attain a strong sense of identity and self-worth, and be eager to equip students with skills and strategies for academic success. A successful candidate will be self-directed, child-centered, and value a community of highly engaged, compassionate, motivated educators who embrace and apply culturally responsive teaching practices. The Librarian and Educational Technology Specialist is a member of the Information Technology team and reports to the Director of Innovation and Instructional Technology. Additionally, this individual will work collaboratively with the Assistant Division Heads responsible for the academic program on each campus. The Carroll School has three divisions; Lower, Middle, and Upper and serves grades 1- 9. This role would be primarily housed at the Lower division (grades 1-5) in Waltham where themain library resides and would also support the organization of the Middle and Upper Schoollibrary resources.

Key Responsibilities:
Library Services:
● Reside at the Lower School library in Waltham and support students grades 1-5 to
inspire a love of reading.
● Foster confidence in reading and provide access to appropriate reading material by
creating an inspiring space conducive to learning for dyslexic students.
● Oversee the physical book collection maintenance, digital resources, and library upkeep
on all 3 campuses.
● Support teachers in navigating library databases and websites for instructional purposes.
● Develop and offer library skills and transliteracy training workshops for teachers (library
orientation, research, source citation, etc.).
● Have a passion for consuming, sharing, and creating content in all different forms
(books, podcasts, articles, etc.) and be able to model this excitement for our students,
families, and faculty.
Technology Integration and Instruction
● Collaborate and co-teach with classroom teachers to develop innovative lessons and
actively support teachers as they gain independence in integrated curriculum instruction.
● Provide opportunities for growth in the education technology space by providing
exposure, support, and training for digital tools in the classroom and beyond.
● Serve as a resource and coach for transliteracy integration.
● Meet with grade level, department, and other committees to plan and assess curriculum.
● Develop a digital literacy scope and sequence for grades 1-9.
● Work with the Director of Innovation and Instructional Technology and other academic
leaders to evaluate and vet new educational technologies with a focus on privacy,
compatibility, and fit for students with language-based learning differences.
● Partner with Academic Leadership Team and Department Heads to help identify needs,
priorities, and next practices in instructional technology and to shape a mindset about
educational technology that is equitable, empathetic, and flexible.
● Support the expansion of the Maker’s programming in the Lower School.
