MSLA Legislative Initiative: What Members Can Do PDF Print E-mail
  • Be prepared to contact your legislators when necessary to advocate for support for our bill.  Legislative alerts are posted on our listserv.

  • Attend a Legislative Breakfast in your region see schedule

  • Invite your legislator to visit your school. Take pictures as well as providing opportunities for interaction with students in the LMC. 
    -> Highlight issues important to your program. 
    -> Demonstrate how your program supports 21st  Century Learning.
    -> Stress the need for parity across the Commonwealth century learning and how you coordinate your program with the curriculum. 
    -> Stress the value of teaching information evaluation skills. 
    -> Explain what you are trying to accomplish. 
    -> Be positive about what you have and explain how much more you could do if more resources were available.

  • Evaluate your Library Media Center using the MSLA Model School Library Program Rubrics and submit your profile to MSLA.  We are looking for model sites to showcase.

  • Build community support for your library program by inviting people in to read to students, to help with projects or to volunteer in the library.

  • Join the MSLA Legislative Committee.  Contact Judi Paradis or Bob Roth
